Men accused of killing dogs appear in court

Posted: Updated:

The case against two Lawrence County men accused in an attack against two dogs is moving forward.

Brian Sharp and Johnathan Jiles were arraigned Thursday in Ironton on charges that they stabbed the dogs to death over the weekend at a home in Pedro.

Both men are 20 years old and are from Pedro. Investigators say they didn't know the owners of the dogs and that the attack was random.

Sheriff Jeff Lawless says both have admitted their involvement.

"They are not just an animal. They are your companion and your best friend. They are just like your kids," said Josie Scythes, owner of the dogs.

Their next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 13.
