The Huntington Police Department has some new officers.

Police Chief Skip Holbrook and Mayor Kim Wolfe were among those that participated in a ceremony this afternoon to swear in three new officers.

James Hunter and Jason Nichols will attend a 16-week basic police training session at the West Virginia State Police Academy.

James Custer will take part in a three-week recertification session.

They say they are ready for their new career.

"My father was a police officer in Barboursville. It was before I was born, but he made the impression that you respect the uniform and respect the people. It made a big impression on me," said Hunter.

The training at the State Police Academy begins Tuesday.
