Kanawha County man faces prison time in illegal firearm case

A Kanawha County man pleaded guilty in federal court to being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin.

John Marcus Schoonover, 41 of Nitro, said he sold a stolen 12-gauge shotgun to a South Charleston pawn shop.

He previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit first degree arson in 2008.

Schoonover faces 10 years in prison. He will be sentenced on December 12.
