Fans gathered Saturday to watch the in-state battle of WVU vs. Marshall in Morgantown for the Friends of Coal Bowl.  Before kickoff, tribute was paid to the two troopers who were recently shot and killed in Clay County on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

West Virginia State Troopers lined the back of the end zone to pay tribute to fallen W.Va. State Troopers Cpl. Marshall L. Bailey, of Poca, and Eric M. Workman, of Clay.

According to the State Police, Bailey and Workman pulled over Luke Baber Tuesday, Aug. 28, after dispatcher's received a call about an erratic driver.

Bailey and Workman arrested Baber and put him in the back seat of their cruiser. While waiting on a tow truck, Baber, who was handcuffed in the front, took a hidden handgun and shot both troopers.

Deputies with the Roane and Clay County Sheriff's Departments tracked down Baber. Roane County Deputy John Westfall exchanged fire with Baber, killing the suspect.
