UC cruises to 33-14 win over Saint
Joseph's College
Charleston fell
behind early, 7-0 in the first quarter, but that Saint
Joseph's College lead was short lived.
UC answered with a Jordan Roberts 32-yard touchdown catch
from back-up quarterback John Knox.
Maurice Leak left mid-way through the first quarter with a
high right ankle sprain.
According to UC Head Coach Pat Kirkland, Leak's status is
day-to-day.
Knox played will throwing for 145 yards and two touchdowns
in the Golden Eagles win.
The game stayed tied at 7 until the second quarter.
The Charleston
offense pulled off a perfectly executed flanker reverse.
Darrell Byrd scored on a 31-yard touchdown to break the tie,
14-7.
UC never looked back.
However, the Golden Eagles would lose their other star
player in the 2nd quarter.
Running back Jordan Roberts was battling flu like symptoms
all week and they finally caught up to him.
Roberts rushed for a 14-yard touchdown and in the process
got very winded.
He left the game and didn't return.
With the win over Saint Joseph's
College, UC improves to 2-0.
Charleston now
opens up WVIAC play at Concord next
Saturday.
