Marshall rebounded well after last week's loss to West Virginia.
The Thundering Herd tallied 615 total yards of offense in its 52-24 win over Western Carolina.
Marshall struggled to get the offense going in the first quarter, but quarterback Rakeem Cato found his rhythm in the second quarter.
The Herd put up 24 points and led, 24-3 at halftime.
Cato finished 32-of-42 with 377 passing yards and three touchdowns. This was
the second game Cato has passed for over 300 yards after recording 413
against West Virginia.
Senior wide receiver Aaron Dobson caught nine balls for 81 yards and a touchdown.
This was the first meeting between these two schools since 1996.
Marshall ended the game without a turnover and was able to put together 37 first downs off of 94 total plays.
Marshall now improves to 1-1 on the year.
The Herd will host Ohio University next Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
