Kentucky State Police are still investigating an accident in Pike County that left one person dead Sunday.
According to a press release, Merle Adkins, 49, of Virgie, Ky., was trying to cross U.S. 23 near Caney when he was hit by a silver Hyundai Sonata. He continued to walk across, from the southbound lane to the northbound lane, when she was hit by two more vehicles.
According to police, Adkins was pronounced dead at the scene and is awaiting an autopsy. Investigators are trying to recreate the circumstances that led to the accident.
