The search is on for a man accused in a murder in Charleston.

Charleston Police said Jarod Edward Washington, 29, of Charleston, is believed to still be in the area.

His co-conspirator, Daniel Lee Little, was arrested late Monday night, police said.

Police said the men are facing first-degree murder and robbery charges in a pair of shootings that left one man dead and another woman injured.

According to court documents, officers responded to a shooting on Piccadilly Street shortly before 2 p.m. Monday.

Inside, they found Roy Chambliss, 40, dead from a gunshot wound to the chest. They also found Natalie Sprouse, 20, who was shot in the arm.

Investigators said they believe guns and possibly drugs were the reasons behind the crime.

Both men left the scene. Authorities later arrested Little at the Red Roof Inn in Teays Valley. Washington is still on the loose and is considered armed and dangerous, according to police.

Both men have criminal histories that can be found at the Kanawha County Courthouse, according to court documents.

Neighbors said they are still pretty rattled by the whole incident. They said Chambliss just moved to the area from Florida and was a nice, quiet neighbor. They said Sprouse was friendly, too.

One neighbor said she left minutes before gunfire rang out at the house across from her.

"I had just left. I came back. We were gone maybe about 45 minutes, and I came back and there were like 35 cop cars up here and unmarked cars, a crime unit, and everything. They were here until late last night," she said.

She said both victims did not deserve to be shot.

"They were good people. They didn't deserve that. Like I say, they hadn't lived here that long. He was just as nice as he could be and she was, too. They didn't bother nobody. They stayed to themselves," she said.

The shootings come less than one year after Donald Raines shot and killed Jerry Baldwin just a few doors down from where Chambliss and Sprouse were shot.

"It does worry me that there's murders that keep happening on the street that I bought a house. I moved to Charleston and invested in this piece of property right here on Mary Street, and then last year or so, there's been two murders," another neighbor said.

Sprouse is still recovering from her injuries at Charleston Area Medical Center but expected to be okay.
