A West Virginia man is now heading a national organization for court clerks.

According to a press release, Rory Perry II, a court clerk for the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, is the new president of the National Conference of Appellate Court Clerks

Perry was elected last month at the group's annual conference in Charleston, S.C. He's been a member of the NCACC since 2003 and was named Clerk of Court in 2000; the 14th person to have that title since 1863.

"It's been a great help to me to call on my colleagues of the National Conference of Appellate Court Clerks to learn and to enhance my professional development. I am honored to have been elected President," Perry said. "Our organization is run entirely by the membership without a paid staff. A great deal of effort goes into the annual education meeting and the ongoing work of committees."

Membership in the NCACC includes clerks from state and federal appellate courts, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court.

"He should be president of the national association," said West Virginia Supreme Court Chief Justice Menis E. Ketchum. "He is the best clerk in the United States."
