UPDATE

A water line earlier on Thursday forced crews to shut down one lane of the bridge to main repairs.

A water main break forced traffic down to one lane on the St. Albans-Nitro Bridge this afternoon, according to emergency dispatchers.
The lane closure is expected to last until sometime between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m., dispatchers reported.
Because of the lane closure, vehicles can cross from Nitro to St. Albans, but not the other direction, dispatchers said.
The broken water main is a 6-inch line that is about 80 years old, city officials said. The line's age, plus the recent change in the weather are believed to have caused the problem.
The broken 6-inch line is affecting two water meters: One at C & O Motors and one at a nearby football field, officials said.
But there are two more water leaks in the area, officials said. One is another 6-inch line near Pizza Hut. The other is a 2-inch line in a residential area.
City crews are working on the leaks. They hope to have them all fixed by later this evening.
