A Cabell Midland student got a big surprise at the school pep rally Friday.
Sophomore Spencer White was told he was getting a school spirit award, but his dad ran onto the floor from behind and gave him a big hug.
It was a tearful reunion for White whose father had been deployed overseas in Afghanistan.
The band played the National Anthem and the crowd gave them a standing ovation.
Spencer says he had no idea what was going on, but was glad to see his dad.
CPO Jerome White says he's glad to finally be home and plans on spending some quality time with his family.
