The Charleston Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association held a barbecue sale on Friday to help raise money for their services.
Throughout the year, the association raises money and then supports officers on Christmas and Thanksgiving with free meals.
They hold a banquet to provide the Charleston Police Department and individual officers help if necessary. "It's great. We have a good time doing it. Everybody here is a volunteer and offering up their assistance. Yesterday was the day we were involved in preparing it and today putting the sandwiches together and delivering them. It's a lot of fun," said David Hoge, an assistance officer with the Charleston Police Department.
The association said it raised about $1,000 from Friday's sale.
