A reported drowning in Huntington turns out to be a false alarm.
Huntington police said it happened a little after 6 p.m. Sunday near the Guyandotte boat ramp.
They said two girls reported seeing a boy near the Guyandotte River.
The girls heard a splash and went to the bank of the river, according to police. They told police they did not see the boy.
A Huntington Fire Department boat was sent to the scene, and divers were preparing to search the river.
The search was called off after the parents of the boy told police they had seen him more than an hour after the girls thought he may have went in the river.
