Some area high school students need your help.

The band at Spring Valley High School is taking part in a grant contest sponsored by Chase Bank.

The band is competing against about 180 other organizations for grant money.

The band is about 180 votes short of the needed amount to win at least $10,000. The top prize is $250,000.

You can vote by visiting www.facebook.com/ChaseCommunityGiving.

Band members and directors say the money would be a big help to their yearly budget.

"Most people don't realize how much it takes to run an organization like this. We have over 140 kids. We just purchased new uniforms and it cost about $75,000," said Wes Bullington, assistant band director.

Voting continues through Wednesday.
