The West Virginia School Building Authority met in Kanawha County on Monday.
During the meeting, Roane County Superintendent Doctor Mickey Blackwell asked for more than $300,000 for that county's stream bank remediation project.
The county is working with the Army Corps of Engineers to work on the Walton Elementary and Middle School property.
Blackwell said they want to make sure they don't have future problems with the school's foundation. "This is really a proactive measure that's designed in the long term to save the taxpayers some money and protect the students in the Walden area," said Blackwell.
He said the project should be done within the next six months.
