A report on the Town of Pratt's finances is expected by next week, according to Kanawha County officials.
The town is currently facing tax liens and possible takeover of their water system by American Water. Mayor Gary Fields told commissioners Thursday that they were spending more than $2,000 per week to rent equipment to keep the water system operational.
In response, the commission agreed to pay for replacement equipment, a cost that was estimated at $20,000. Fuel and chemical costs will also be paid by the county.
Assistant to the County Manager Colt Sandoro told the commission that several businesses and agencies the town was currently indebted to had been identified.
