The St. Albans Police Department is alerting people about fake bills and a scam going around town.
An elderly man was approached near the McDonald's in St. Albans on Friday, and was asked to make change for a $100 bill.
The man said that the bill looked real, but it was really just a flyer for the All-N-One pawn shop.
Police said the suspect ran off with five $20s from the elderly man, before the victim realized he'd been scammed.
The St. Albans Police Department is investigating.
