Brickhouse Cardio Club marks second anniversary

In celebrating two years of business, Brickhouse Cardio Club has also celebrated expansion into 17 states, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The West Virginia-based fitness franchise started Sept. 25, 2010, in Cross Lanes because two co-owners, Marie McDavid and Misti Janey, saw a specific need in the area.

"Misti and I were going to Zumba classes around the area, and we couldn't find anything consistent that didn't have constant cancellations or that wasn't on a surface that bothered our knees, hips and joints like carpet or tile," McDavid said in a news release. "We knew we could fill a void by providing consistent class times at awesome studios that were built for group exercise classes like Zumba and Turbo Kick."

Franchise owner and founder Vic Sprouse said his team didn't realize with the first studio that the concept would carry to so many other places.

"It's a testament to the concept, but especially to the hard work of our owners, franchisees and the countless instructors who have taught at Brickhouse throughout the country," Sprouse said in a news release.

Janey said she has been rewarded by seeing franchisees put in the work to own their own businesses.

"We provide them the training and support they need to have success," Janey said in a news release. "It's not easy to build a business, but we feel strongly we give our franchisees the best chance to succeed and to see success in our franchisees is the driving force behind the love and passion we have for our concept."
