Authorities at the South Central Regional say Dale Newhouse was arraigned on a first-degree murder charge.

Court documents also reveal that Wednesday morning was not Newhouse's first encounter with the law.

Court documents reveal he allegedly trying to rape a woman in 2008.  The documents go on to indicate while wrestling with the woman over her, he ended up shooting her. That woman survived.

That case was dismissed, due to a lack of evidence.

Newhouse has a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 5.
