New nature and fitness trail ribbon-cutting set for Saturday

    A tractor trailer is blocking part of Route 2. The road is closed until further notice. Drivers heading in both direction are being asked to use the Big Ben Bowen Highway connector by Target to get around.

This Saturday, Gilmore Elementary School in Jackson County will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new nature and fitness trail.

The trail provides students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade the ability to explore and learn about conservation.

Several area organizations partnered together to make this possible, including:

  • Sisters of St. Joseph's Charitable Fund

  • USDA - Natural Resources Conservation Service
  • West Virginia Conservation Agency
  • West Virginia Forestry Association
  • Western Conservation District
