The city of Huntington's
decision to levy an occupation tax on every employee working in the city is
effectively dead.
While we have to respect the city's need to maintain operating expenses, this
was an idea that never got off the ground.
Government, on every level, has to realize that they can't tax their way to
prosperity. It just doesn't work.
Huntington city leaders must make
their budget work with financial discipline, not budget gimmicks.
