The Rod Run and Doo Wop is under way along Kanawha Boulevard in downtown Charleston.

Organizers said on Friday night that they have more than 800 vehicles and are close to capacity. They strongly encouraged any show cars that would like to be a part of this year's show to register early on Saturday morning. Vehicle registration will close at noon or before if capacity is reached.

The event attracts vehicles from 16 states each year, as well as an estimated 100,000 people throughout the week.

In addition, there will be at least three, free, live concerts and a $25,000 fireworks show.
