A man shot a woman in the head and then took his own life just moments after two kids ran from the sight of a loaded gun.

Jackson County Sheriff's deputies found Bobby McCormick, 36, and Crystal Fyffe, 33, dead on the back porch with gun shot wounds.

According to Jackson County Sheriff John Shasteen, deputies received a call last night just before 11 p.m. about a man holding a woman at gunpoint.

When deputies arrived to the scene on 2389 Limerick road just west of Liberty township, they said they found the caller who was the sister of the gunman.

The deputies then heard two gunshots.

The Sheriff's office said the two had lived there for years and had two children living with them, one a freshman in high school and the other in grade school.

The two children fled to safety when they spotted the gun.
