Charleston city leaders show fiscal responsibility

Posted: Updated:

A fundamental aspect of good government is not playing fast and loose with public dollars.

Through the first few months of this fiscal year, the city of Charleston had a good size bump in business and occupation tax. City leaders immediately put about $400,000 of that money into reducing pension costs.

Any economists will say that unfunded liabilities are an economic time bomb. It's good that Charleston is doing all they can to deal with this issue now rather than later.
