Google Apps IT Management App Launches Major New Google Drive Security and Control Features; Adds 2.75 Million Users Since July Launch
New York, New York (PRWEB) October 11, 2012
BetterCloud, the leading provider of enterprise-class security and management products for the Google Apps platform, today announced major feature updates to FlashPanel, the most sophisticated IT management application for Google Apps administrators. The latest version of FlashPanel introduces new Google Drive security, visibility and control features for Google Apps administrators as well as new ease-of use features for Google Apps end-users inside the enterprise. FlashPanel has added over 10,000 organizations and 2.75 million users since its launch this July, making it fastest growing product ever in the Google Apps Marketplace.
FlashPanel’s latest features aim to increase overall enterprise security for any organization running on Google Apps. Administrators will now be able to understand whom employees are sharing Google Drive documents with inside and outside the organization, and can quickly change permissions for one or hundreds of Google Drive documents with the click of a button. The new features also allow administrators to see how employees are using Google Apps and identify potential training opportunities for unlocking and encouraging use of lesser-known but powerful Google Apps functionality.
“FlashPanel is worth installing just on the basis of how quickly you can get to information and the quality of information you have access to,” said Mark Lightfoot, Messaging and Collaboration Analyst at the Financial Times. “FlashPanel is far and away better than the Google Apps Control Panel.”
“Rapid enterprise adoption of FlashPanel is yet another signal that organizations are growing comfortable with the notion that some or all of their IT infrastructure can be securely and efficiently managed in the cloud,” said David Politis, BetterCloud’s Founder and CEO. “It also illustrates that our collaborative product development process, which includes heavy participation from our customers, has helped to build the best admin tool on the market. We look forward to rolling out more new FlashPanel features, further empowering Google Apps administrators to take control of their domains.”
BetterCloud’s customers represent a broad range of vertical industries within the private enterprise, education and government sectors. Major new FlashPanel features being released to customers today include:
Google Drive Visibility and Control: Gives administrators the ability to view and change any Google Drive document in their domain. The visibility is initially exposed through an intuitive dashboard that displays how Google Docs are shared both inside and outside of the domain. Then admins are able to drill down into their domain’s Google Drive accounts with useful filters such as owner, type, size, file extension, exposure level, people and domains shared with, and many more. This visibility also displays documents created outside of the domain, but shared with users within your environment. Asset controls allow administrators to change document ownership and add and remove collaborators on individual documents as well as on hundreds of documents at once.
End-user View: Gives typical Google Apps users (end-users) the ability to setup and maintain their individual user profile while allowing administrators to control which fields users can edit. End-users can also browse the company directory, including individual views of employees, groups and company contacts. The company directory respectfully hides users and groups in the domain that are marked as hidden. Finally, end-user view provides access to premium video tutorials from AsktheGooru.com, a Gmail and Google Apps help site, that are segmented by topic and skill level.
“The functionality we’ve added today makes FlashPanel a universal tool for both Google Apps super administrators and end-users operating on the Google Apps platform,” added Politis. “It’s an exciting time to be involved in the Google Apps ecosystem and we look forward to being part of this growing movement.”
