Students are mourning the loss of an area high school student.  They learned about the death on Sunday.

13 News is told that a St. Albans High School student died after an incident with the gun.  It is unclear exactly what happened.

We spoke with the St. Albans police chief about the incident, who told us it happened outside of St. Albans city limits.  Kanawha County sheriff's deputies will be investigating how the student died.

13 News is not releasing the victim's name until all family members are notified.

Friends tell us a candlelight vigil will be held for the student soon.

Students will be out of school Monday and Tuesday for an in-service day.
