A day after the East Coast superstorm,
both presidential candidates were appealing for donations - but for relief
agencies instead of for their campaigns.
Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney edged back
into active campaigning Tuesday while President Barack Obama stayed in Washington
to oversee the federal government's storm response.
Obama visited American Red Cross headquarters near the White
House. He also scheduled a Wednesday trip to New Jersey
to survey storm damage. The state's Republican governor, Chris Christie, has
praised Obama's response to the storm.
Romney spoke of concern for storm victims during an event in
Ohio. He urged supporters to
donate food and other items, which he helped load onto a delivery truck.
Afterward, Romney headed for Florida;
he has three campaign rallies scheduled there on Wednesday.
