CHAPMANVILLE, West Virginia -
All it took was one phone call from emergency personnel in Logan County and members of the LEAD Community Organization jumped into action to prepare close to 200 meals for people displaced by the recent snow storm.
Several senior citizens in Chapmanville were evacuated to a warm shelter when the power went out.
Some residents in the Buffalo Creek area also had to seek shelter and needed a warm meal.
"We got a phone call that said they were needing food so what we did was we gathered at the First Christian Church and started putting together meals," said LEAD president and United States Army Major Richard Ojeda.
Area businesses donated some supplies to help serve those meals. Other groups volunteered to deliver the food to those in need.
