Ohio's elections chief said that more than 1.6 million Ohioans have already cast their ballots ahead of Tuesday.

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted said that includes 1.1 million absentee ballots that have been returned and more than 495,000 votes cast at early voting centers.

Husted said in a statement that voting has gone smoothly in Ohio and he expects absentee voting this year to surpass 2008.

Ohio boards of election are open for early voting Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
