RED HOUSE, West Virginia -
There has been a push lately in schools to get kids to eat more fruits and vegetables.
The federal Farm to School program is making it possible to purchase some of those products locally.
On Nov. 8, students from Bridgeview Elementary took a tour of Gritt's Midway Greenhouse in Red House.
They learned how the tomatoes and cucumbers they eat at school are grown.
"I learned how they grow plants and how they don't want to use any pesticides or any sprays," explained student Lauryn Baker. "They want to use natural resources."
One of the goals of the tour was to gets kids energized about the food and to make them more likely to enjoy having those items on their lunch tray.
