A new educational urban micro-farm will be constructed on Charleston's West Side this weekend, according to a news release.
It will be built on the corner of Ohio Street and Washington Street West.
People can stop by on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. or Sunday from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. to see the design.
This is the first step in the Charleston Area Alliance's new Sustainable Agriculture Entrepreneur, or SAGE, initiative.
SAGE aims to develop "agripreneurs", which stands for agriculture based entrepreneurs, for the local food market.
People will be able to learn agriculture skills that will allow them to enter into the local food market.
The initiative will teach members of the public how to cultivate a variety of agricultural products and then help them sell the crops to local restaurants and food suppliers.
The inaugural SAGE class will kick-off in January 2013.
