ArtsLink will offer a free presentation of "Through the Eye of the Needle, the Art of Esther Nisenthal
Krinitz" at 6:30 p.m. May 13 at the Francis Creative Arts Center, located at the corner of Maple Avenue and Washington Street in New Martinsville. Light refreshments will be served.

Performers Karen Vuranch and Al Stone bring two noted figures in U.S. history to the stage at Twin Falls State Park on Nov. 10. Dinner will be followed by the "History Alive" presentation about Clara Barton and Robert E. Lee during the Civil War era.

Clara Barton was a nurse and educator and also the founder of the American Red Cross. She helped the soldiers during the Civil War in any way she could as in independent nurse. She was nicknamed "the angel of the battlefield." Vuranch, an actress from Fayetteville, portrays Barton.

Robert E. Lee is best known as commander of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia during the Civil War. Stone, who portrays General Lee, had two great-great grandfathers who served as volunteers in the War Between the States. He has portrayed Gen. Lee in classroom settings, at award ceremonies, church gatherings, reenactments and on theater stages. Stone portrayed Gen. Lee in the documentary titled "April 1865" for the History Channel and has been described as one of the most accurate impressionists of General Lee today.

Vuranch and Stone review history and life during the Civil War. The dinner theater cost is $44 per person. An overnight package of dinner, theater and accommodation for two is $151. Reservations are requested.

Twin Falls State Park is located in Wyoming County near Mullens and Pineville in southern West Virginia. For information, call 304-294-4000 or visit www.twinfallsresort.com.
