CHARLESTON, West Virginia -
A Charleston man was sentenced to a year behind bars for a fatal punch behind a South Charleston bar.
Kenneth Slater pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery Friday. Slater admitted to punching Robert Adkins outside a bar on Saint Patrick's Day. Adkins later died from his injuries.
Attorneys for Slater asked for a home confinement sentence instead of incarceration.
