CHARLESTON, West Virginia -

West Virginia has a long tradition of military service. Now, the state is being recognized for honoring them the right way.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has selected Charleston as one of 62 regional sites it
considers models for the rest of the country to follow as it celebrates Veterans Day.

Charleston's parade starts Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Organizer Edward Converse says the honor comes on the parade's 70th anniversary.

It's the first time the Capital City's celebration has been honored by the federal government.
