A routine traffic stop turned into a shooting Friday night.
It all happened in Portsmouth around 8:30 p.m. when a trooper pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation.
When the vehicle came to a stop, the passenger, 26-year-old Chaz Taylor got out of the vehicle and began running on foot. The trooper got out and ran after him.
Taylor was shot and taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. He has been released from the hospital and is now in jail on an outstanding warrant.
