UPDATE: Man dies after car hits restaurant on RT. 52 in Wayne County

A man who crashed into a building in Wayne county last night has died.

Trooper Whittington of the West Virginia State Police says 53-year-old Dennie Carver, of Alkol, West Virginia died overnight after being taken to a Williamson hospital.

Whittington says the car lost control, hit a guardrail, and went through a yard before crashing into Dorothy's restaurant on Route 52 last night.

The accident is under investigation.


 

According to dispatchers, a car hit Dorothy's Restaurant  in Wayne County around 9:30 p.m. Monday. 

It happened on Route 52 in Kermit near the border of Mingo and Wayne counties.

Dispatchers say there were people in the restaurant, but no one was injured inside.  However, the driver of the car was transported to a local hospital.  

There is no word on the condition of the driver.
