ArtsLink will offer a free presentation of "Through the Eye of the Needle, the Art of Esther Nisenthal Krinitz" at 6:30 p.m. May 13 at the Francis Creative Arts Center, located at the corner of Maple Avenue and Washington Street in New Martinsville. Light refreshments will be served.
The West Virginia Wesleyan Concert Band
and Percussion Ensemble will present the annual winter concerts.
The Concert Band will perform at 7:30 p.m.
Nov. 13 in the Virginia Thomas Law
Center for the Performing Arts. Under the co-direction of Professor Robert
Baden and James Moore, the group consists of 35 wind and percussionists. This
semester's concert will feature works by Howard Hanson, Morton Gould's famous
"American Salute," Erik Eriksson's "Toccata for Band" and works by Mozart
and Frank Tichelli.
"We're very excited about the 2012-2013
edition of this group," said Moore. "We're presenting an ambitious program and
the students have risen to the challenge that Bob and I have put before them.
This promises to be a great concert."
At 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14, the Percussion
Ensemble will perform in Loar Auditorium. Led by longtime music director and
conductor Robert Baden, the group consists of 14 members and will feature multi-percussion soloist Holden Akers-Toler, a freshman from Beckley, and a
novelty selection performed on various garbage cans.
