The West Virginia Wesleyan Concert Band and Percussion Ensemble will present the annual winter concerts.

The Concert Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13  in the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts. Under the co-direction of Professor Robert Baden and James Moore, the group consists of 35 wind and percussionists. This semester's concert will feature works by Howard Hanson, Morton Gould's famous "American Salute," Erik Eriksson's "Toccata for Band" and works by Mozart and Frank Tichelli.

"We're very excited about the 2012-2013 edition of this group," said Moore. "We're presenting an ambitious program and the students have risen to the challenge that Bob and I have put before them. This promises to be a great concert."

At 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14, the Percussion Ensemble will perform in Loar Auditorium. Led by longtime music director and conductor Robert Baden, the group consists of 14 members and will feature multi-percussion soloist Holden Akers-Toler, a freshman from Beckley, and a novelty selection performed on various garbage cans.

The concerts are free and open to the public.
