CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell one-tenth of a percentage point to 7.5 percent in October.

Job gains of 300 in the service-providing sector were offset by a loss of 100 jobs in the goods-producing sector.

Total employment has fallen 11,000 since October 2011, including 5,300 in mining and logging.

Nationally, the unemployment rate increased one-tenth of a percentage point to 7.9 percent last month.

The state's unadjusted jobless rate fell one-tenth of a percentage point to 6.8 percent in October.
