Homeowners affected by the summer derecho have until November 19 to file a claim for federal assistance.
Members of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are urging everyone in the 20 affected counties to file an application for assistance.
FEMA has a toll-free help line at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for those with speech or hearing impairment. You can also apply online at www.disasterassistance.gov.
The counties that were effected include Boone, Cabell, Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Roane, Tyler, Webster, and Wood.
