A former Lincoln County commissioner accused of making false statements to an agent investigating voter fraud in the county will be sentenced Nov. 15.
Thomas Ramey Jr., 32, pleaded guilty earlier this year to the single-count information charging him with lying to a secretary of state agent when he said he did not know who altered absentee ballots before they were submitted to the Lincoln County clerk.
The information also asserts Ramey caused a "known person" to alter absentee ballot applications.
U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin will host a news conference following Ramey's sentencing.
Former Lincoln County Sheriff Jerry Bowman and Lincoln County Clerk Donald Whitten also were charged in the scheme.
Two others have been convicted in the investigation of the 2010 primary election fraud scheme. Former Lincoln County Sheriff Jerry Bowman was charged with conspiracy in illegal absentee ballot while Lincoln County Clerk Donald Whitten was charged with making false statements in an investigation of the fraud.
The information states Bowman, Whitten and another "known individual" visited voters' sat with voters while they voted.
Bowman was sentenced to one year and one day in prison and Whitten was sentenced to 18 months.
