Charleston Police have arrested a man on drug charges after an incident on Washington Street.

Johnnie Lee Alston, 30, has been charged with possession with the intent to deliver.

Police said they responded to a disturbance on the 1000 block of Washington Street on the night of Nov. 14.

Someone called 911 and said they saw a man with a gun.

When police arrived, they found Alston, who fit the description of the 911 call.

Police said Alston did not initially cooperate and refused to take his left hand out of his pocket.

When he finally raised his hands, police patted him down to make sure he did not have any weapons on him.

Police said they found 37 dime sized bags of marijuana on Alston.

He is in the South Central Regional Jail with bail set at $25,000.
