The Kanawha Valley Collective sponsored "One Night Without a Home" in an effort to raise awareness about homelessness.

The program started at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 and will officially end at midnight.  People were encouraged to stay the night.  People that attended brought nonperishable food items.

According to the W.Va. Coalition to End Homelessness, there are more than 800 people on any given night without a place to stay.

The National Coalition for the Homeless says there are about 3.5 million people nationwide that have experienced homelessness.

Tune in at 7 p.m. for our coverage of the event.
