3 people arrested in Mingo County drug trafficking scheme

Posted: Updated:

Three people are behind bars after a multi-agency drug raid in Mingo County.

Williamson Police Chief C.D. Rockel said the arrests were part of a three month investigation.

John Bland, 51 of Red Jacket, Nicholas Bland, 27 of North Matewan, and Megan Berger, 25 of North Matewan, have been booked in the Southwestern Regional Jail on drug trafficking charges.

Matewan, Delbarton, Gilbert, and Delbarton Police Departments, along with the Mingo County Sheriff's Department, served search warrants on three houses in Mingo County Friday night.

Authorities said they confiscated eight pounds of marijuana, prescription drugs, $3,000 in case, and several guns.

Investigators are still looking for John Bland Jr., who has warrants out for his arrest in connection with this case.

Rockel said this was a family-run drug trafficking scheme.

He said people in the community can sleep better knowing that these individuals are off of the streets.

During the raids, Rockel said people in the neighborhoods came out to thank law enforcement officials.

Additional charges are also pending against the three suspects.
