One
department at West Virginia University has announced two programs to help human
resources practitioners seeking certification.
The Center
for Executive Education at the WVU College of Business and Economics is
partnering with the Society for Human Resource Management, a leading global HR
professional organization, to form the WVU SHRM Learning System. The SHRM
Learning System is designed for HR practitioners seeking their Professional in
Human Resources or Senior Professional in Human Resources certification.
To accommodate
working professionals, the SHRM program will be on a different schedule than in
previous years. The upcoming spring program will meet on seven, non-consecutive
Tuesday afternoons from 13:30-6:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 15 through April 23.
This schedule allows participants to take a half day off work rather than
missing the whole day or working longer.
Past
participants in the program at WVU have an exam pass rate of more than 90
percent, exceeding the national average. Each module of the WVU SHRM Learning
System is available separately for those interested in up-to-date information
and latest practices on specific HR topics.
Additionally,
the WVU SHRM Essentials of HR Management workshop will be offered Feb. 22-23 in
Morgantown. This workshop is for small business owners, office managers, new or
experienced supervisors, new and junior HR practitioners or anyone who wants to
become more effective at handling day-to-day HR issues. The workshop is eligible
for 1.5 CEUs and 15 PHR/SPHR/GPHR Recertification Credit Hours.
Information
sessions on the programs on will be conducted by B&E Nov. 15 from noon to 1
p.m. in the Wharf District's Marina Tower, Room 401, and Nov. 28 from noon to 1
p.m. in the WVU Mountainlair in Hatfield's B. Pizza will be provided for lunch
while guests are provided with information about the program and are invited to
ask questions.
