A man was shot in the hand during a robbery on Charleston's east end on July 22 at about 10:30 a.m.

On Nov. 19 around 10 p.m., authorities were called to a home on the East Fork at Twelve Pole in Mingo County.

Responders found a husband and wife dead outside of their home.

Investigators released the names of the couple as William Warren Browning, 45, of Dingess, W.Va., and Teri Ann Browning, 32, also from Dingess, W.Va.

Jerry Vance lives next door to the couple and said he heard them arguing.  Then, he said he heard gunshots.  When he went to his front door, he saw William walking towards him with a gun.

Vance said William admitted to shooting Teri in their car.  William then asked Vance to make sure his two little girls were taken care of.

Then, Vance said William walked over to a bench in his front yard and turned the gun on himself.

"It's hard to believe. I'm still, it is like a tape going through my mind, over and over. I can't get it out of my mind. It's going to take time for me, too. When you see something like that, it's a tragedy," he said.

Vance said he heard the couple argue from time to time, but never though anything like this would happen.

Family members are looking after the couple's two little girls, who were home at the time of the shooting but unharmed.
