The West Virginia Board of Education unanimously decided to accept its response to the education audit released in January.

The board met for close to five hours before reaching this decision.

The meeting got off to a rocky start.

A Kanawha County parent and educator addressed the board and expressed their disdain with the way the board votes to fire Dr. Jorea Marple.

Marple served as the Superintendent of Schools before the board voted to let her go.

After the public comments, Board President Wade Linger officially started the meeting.

The 130-page response was split up into two sections.  Part one addressed the board's vision to address the most critical measures.

Part two responded to more than 100 recommendations that the January audit addressed.

Priscilla Haden went recommendation-by-recommendation and asked questions to the other board members in the room.

Haden has expressed her frustration with the way the board operates as it relates to transparency.  She even made a motion to have this particular meeting continued until the public could review the draft response.

She later withdrew that motion.

Five hours later, the board agreed to accept the response to the audit.  This means that it will be available to the public, as soon as it is uploaded online.
