Suspect in Glasgow police officer shooting found not competent to stand trial

A man accused of shooting a Glasgow police officer went to trial on Nov. 26.

A judge ruled that Nickey Smith was not competent to stand trial and set a hearing on Smith's competency for Jan. 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.

In August, Smith pleaded not guilty to state charges of malicious wounding and attempted murder.

Smith pleaded guilty to federal gun charges in connection with the shooting.
