Charleston Police close to solving recent murder case

There have been two murders in Charleston in the past couple of months.

Now, Charleston Police said they are close to solving one of those murders.

David Booker, 25, was found shot to death on Charleston's East End back in October.

His body was found in an alley way.

Last week, police issued a first degree murder warrant for Richard Hilliard, 24.

They thought he fled the area, but new information suggests he is still in Charleston.

"We do believe he is in the area. We were lead to believe by persons involved that he had left and went to Ohio. But, we've since found out he never did leave," said Sgt. Bobby Eggleton, Charleston Police.

Police said people know where Hilliard is and they just need someone to have enough guts to give him up.

"We do know there's other circumstances. We want to give him the opportunity to talk to us about but as long as he is on the run, we can't get his side of the story," Eggleton said.

On the other side of town, police still aren't releasing many details into who shot and killed 39-year-old Clinton 'Blue' Green.

His body was found shot to death in the middle of Main Street last Wednesday.

Charles Hudson grew up on the West Side but said he would never live there now. He said the violence is getting out of control.

"How can you clean it up? There's ain't no way. There ain't no way you can clean it up unless you get rid of the drugs, and how are you going to do that?"

Green's death brings the total number of murders this year to six.

"Nobody deserves to die on the street like that. Somebody needs to pay for this crime. Give us a call and let us do the investigation," Eggleton said.
