HURRICANE, WV -

OnSite Digital Radiology Services will be providing around-the-clock mobile digital radiology to nursing homes, assisted living centers, in-home care, correctional facilities and other facilities in December, according to Richard F. Pulcrano, company president and CEO.

OnSite will be the first provider of mobile digital radiology technology in the state of West Virginia. Operations will begin in the Huntington and Charleston area and then be available throughout the state. All imaging studies will be read by a board-certified radiologist at Radiology Inc., which is based in Huntington.

Pulcrano started mobile imaging services in West Virginia as Tri-State Mobile Medical Services in 1986. Pulcrano was named West Virginia Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 1988 for providing medical services to the geriatric communities. In 1994, Gov. Gaston Caperton appointed Pulcrano to the Medicaid Enhancement Board.

Pulcrano graduated from the St. Mary's School of Radiologic Technology in Huntington and from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Pulcrano is a board-certified radiologic technologist.

Digital radiology imaging techniques the company uses provide a 3,500 percent increase in image quality over conventional "film" technology, Pulcrano said, and a 400 percent increase in image quality over digital CR technology.

His company's process also is more streamlined, Pulcrano said, allowing an X-ray technologist to review the images at a patient's bedside and submit to a radiologist, whereas other techniques require the technologist to go to a vehicle to scan, review and send the image. Film technology requires the technologist to go back to a processing site to process, review and send the image, Pulcrano said.

The company is based in the Prestige Professional Park in Hurricane.
