After hearing from nearly 20 people who support former state school Superintendent Jorea Marple, the West Virginia Board of Education went into executive session at around noon today.

Shortly before the executive session, board President Wade Linger requested the presence of five Capitol police officers.

Today's board meeting comes after questions of whether the firing of Marple earlier this month was done in compliance with the state's open meetings law.

Most of the speakers in support of Marple were educators and union officials.
